Title
Empowering Patients with Low Socioeconomic Status: An Interactive Approach to Improve Medication Adherence and Health Equity
Summary
People with a low socioeconomic status (SES) often face barriers in understanding medical information and following prescribed medical advice. This significantly impacts their medication adherence and overall health. Interventions designed to support them can only be successful if they are tailored to the patient's needs, support (health) literacy, and present information in an appropriate manner. Therefore, we use an interactive tool to identify medication-related problems and find starting points for improving medication use — for example, by incorporating these insights into a (serious) game. In this way, patients become more ‘medication-savvy,’ contributing to a reduction in health disparities.
