- Biography
- Joep Janssen has a background as a human movement scientist and physiotherapist. He has worked as a researcher at the lectorate ‘Innovatie van Beweegzorg’ at the HU University of Applied Science and as an innovation advisor at De Hoogstraat Revalidatie. Joep also worked for many years as a physiotherapist in the pediatric neurology department of De Hoogstraat Revalidatie. As a researcher and innovator, he always focused on using technology to make movement care more intensive, smarter and more fun. In 2019, Joep founded the company HoloMoves, for which he currently works full-time. With HoloMoves Mixed Reality software, they train patients during their rehabilitation. With motivating holograms, they give the patient more control over their recovery, while the use can be monitored and it responds to the increasing staff shortages. More specifically, HoloMoves focuses on long-term rehabilitation programs. Think of neurorehabilitation such as brain injury and spinal cord injuries, but also long-term recovery programs such as cruciate ligament operations and knee or hip prostheses. Interactive and motivating ensures that the focus is shifted. This way, it takes the patient away from movement-related pain or anxiety. HoloMoves apps are now mainly used in rehabilitation clinics and physiotherapy practices, but in our recent projects we have also shown that there is a lot of potential in the home situation! We are also investigating the latter with our partners from XR4Rehab and the XR in Health Business Community, in which HoloMoves together with Corpus VR plays a prominent role.

- Summary
- Joep Janssen, a human movement scientist and physiotherapist, founded HoloMoves in 2019. Drawing from his research and innovation roles at HU University and De Hoogstraat Revalidatie, he developed Mixed Reality software to enhance rehabilitation. HoloMoves uses motivating holograms to improve patient control and recovery, addressing staff shortages in long-term programs like neurorehabilitation and orthopedic recovery. Currently used in clinics, HoloMoves is expanding into home-based therapy through partnerships like XR in Health Business Community.
